VANITAS 7
In VANITAS 7, three large chrome skulls float toward us in the left of the painting, each one closer than the one behind. On the right there is a female figure in a classic pose, like an ancient Greek goddess. Only the torso can be seen – her neck to her thighs. The curved figure is sexy, tanned, and wearing a 1960s-style white bikini. At second glance we see pink wings spreading from her back: an angel? A beautiful angel of death perhaps? The floating skulls lead us toward this conclusion. But what is this thick saffron liquid shooting across the surface?
